CANDLE CARE
Burning tips to get the most from your candle.
ALWAYS TRIM YOUR WICK
Before lighting your candle (after every burn), remember to trim the wick to approx. 5mm by removing all of the loose burnt pieces from the top.
If your wick appears to be producing smoke at any time and isn’t in a draught, the wick may need trimming.
Extinguish the flame, trim the wick and relight.
CANDLE SAFETY
A burning candle will get hot. Always burn a candle at least 12 inches away from flammable objects and surfaces.
Keep a burning candle away from drafts, open air vents or ceiling fans / open windows as this can make a candle burn more rapidly.
Always remember to keep out of children’s and pet’s reach and never leave a child or pet alone in a room with a burning candle.
Avoid moving a candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquid.
SPEND TIME WITH YOUR CANDLE
Make sure that the first burn is approx. 2-3 hours allowing the wax to melt to the edge of the container.
Candle wax has a memory and if you don’t allow your candle to burn to the vessels edge on the first burn, on every subsequent burn the melted wax pool will ‘tunnel’ down the wick rather than burn evenly. If this happens, the wick can eventually drown in the wax and won't stay lit.
DON'T BURN YOUR CANDLE FOR TOO LONG
Burning your candle for too long, can cause carbon buildup and release soot into the air and onto your candle container.
For best results never burn for longer that 3-4 hours (depending on the size). If you burn your candle for too long, it will start to burn faster.
Extinguish the flame when 10mm wax is left, before it burns down to the bottom to avoid overheating glass.
CLEANING YOUR EMPTY VESSEL
Once the candle has burned away it leaves a functional and versatile glass to be used however you choose. To clean your empty candle vessel, place in freezer for two hours. Next, remove the wick and scrape residue away with a butter knife. Wash with warm soapy water and dry.
Suggested repurposing:
Layer with rocks, soil and herbs or a succulent. (The rocks in the base will allow water to drain).
Add a tea light and continue to use as a table decoration.
Fill with Himalayan rock salt and drip essential oils on top to create crystal potpourri.
Or fill with your Gem collection, makeup brushes or cotton buds.
